What is the TRADES ASSISTANT course?

There has never been a better time than now to launch your career in aviation as an aircraft maintenance engineer!

The current skills shortage means you can embark on an exciting, rewarding and challenging career, with local training and career pathways based in the region. Aviation Australia is excited to announce the launch of the INTRO TO AVIATION TRADES ASSISTANT COURSE.  

The TRADES ASSISTANT course is a pathway program based in Rockhampton, for future aircraft maintenance engineers between Aviation Australia and Alliance Airlines.

This seven week course will deliver theory and practical training, providing you with foundations skills in:

Materials and hardware

Maintenance practices

Basic aerodynamics

Human factors

Aviation legislation and documentation

What Outcomes Should I Expect?

On course completion students will be issued a Certificate of Completion.

Students will have the ability to:

  • Describe aircraft materials and hardware
  • Identify ferrous and non-ferrous
  • Understand human factors and limitations
  • Recall basic aerodynamics
  • Explain aviation legislation and documentation
  • Demonstrate maintenance practices including disassembly, inspection, repair and assembly techniques.

Students will be job ready to commence in a Trades Assistant role.

Over time, successful graduates can progress through to aircraft maintenance engineer career pathways.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia living in Queensland, including New Zealand citizens or refugees or humanitarian visa holders living in Queensland.

Start dates & cost:
6th March - 28th April 2023                                                                     

This course is fully Government funded for eligible participants, under the School to Work Transitions Program.

Please note that course duration, start dates and cost are subject to change and may depend on government funding, and sufficient enrolment numbers.
