Aviation Australia is the only registered training organisation (RTO) in Australia holding a CRICOS registration approval as well as an EASA part 147 approval, allowing candidates for the EASA Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering to apply for a student visa joining the course at the Aviation Australia Brisbane Headquarter located at the Brisbane Airport Precinct.
WHO WE ARE

This training was specifically created by Aviation Australia to support the creation of future workforce of aircraft maintenance engineers around the world.
EASA PART 147 APPROVAL
This Aviation Approval was granted in 2006 by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency allowing Aviation Australia to become an approved organisation delivering training for the purpose of Part-66 licence. CRICOS REGISTRATION
Aviation Australia is part of the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). This allows international students to apply for a student visa to join their training in Australia.
A UNIQUE CAMPUS IN THE BRISBANE AIRPORT PRECINCT
The Aviation Australia Headquarter is based at 20 Boronia Road, Brisbane Airport QLD 4008. This unique campus is compounded by the Flight Safety Training Centre, the Technical Training Centre and a corporate area which also includes 16 classes. The engineering training aids can be accessed from the Rotary Hangar (including but not limiting to Sikorsky S-76, a Robinson R44, Rolls RB211 turbines and more) and the Technical Training Centre (including but not limiting to Fokker F28, Piper Navajo, McDonnell Douglas MD-82 and more). The main hangar faces the static aircraft zone of the Brisbane Airport. As Aviation Australia’s is approved as a CASA CAR 30, the hangars run with a live maintenance environment welcoming domestic and international engineers as well as students from all over the world.
2406 HOURS OF COMPREHENSIVE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE TRAINING
As per EASA regulations, students train with Aviation Australia for a total of 2406 hours (90 weeks course duration). Training includes 1242 hours of theory and 1164 hours of practical training (combination of practical consolidation training and practical maintenance training). Practical training is conducted by using a variety of basic individual and team tasks (for example: building from scratch a wing in scale – the so called wingbox practical) to more advanced ones (for example: landing gear removal or engine components removal).
QUALIFIED INSTRUCTORS FROM CIVIL, COMMERCIAL AND MILITARY BACKGROUND
Aviation Australia’s instructors come from a variety of industry experiences and represent an invaluable asset from a multicultural point of view. Meet Charlie Mifsud – since 2013 he has been part of the Aviation Australia’s instructors team working in the technical training centre teaching both domestic and international students. At the age of 17 (1974) he joined RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) as an aircraft sheet metal worker for 6 years. In early 80s after leaving the Air Force, he then started his journey to obtain in 1988 his License as an aircraft maintenance engineer (mechanical) under CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority – Australia). From there he covered a variety of roles in different companies including (but not limiting to) working for Pacific Aviation, Rotor Care, Kendell Airlines, JetCity and Qantas while also accumulating experience on corporate and private jets and helicopters. Charlie prides himself for continuously building and improving one of the best centres of excellence for aircraft maintenance practical training in the country.
ONE PROGRAM – THREE OUTCOMES FOR YOUR FUTURE
When graduating from the Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, students will obtain three valuable outcomes future proofing their careers in the Aviation Industry:
1) Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering: this qualification is recognised Australia wide and can be used to obtain credit transfer with selected Australian Universities.
2) EASA Certificate of Recognition (COR) & Journal of Experience (JOE): the COR records all theory exam results while the JOE is a full record of the practical training where Aviation Australia engineers signs off students when deemed competent. These documents can be used when applying for jobs in the Aviation industry.
3) Reduction in licensing timeframe: the timeframe to apply for the EASA Part-66 licence is now reduced from a minimum of 5 years to a minimum of 3.5 years: How to get an EASA Part-66 Licence (Category B1 or B2)? | EASA (europa.eu). Students will only need minimum two years of on-the-job training to apply for their initial licence.
